Reproduction quality photography for artists
All artists need high quality photographs of pretty much everything they produce. They need records of anthing that they might possibly sell, before it's too late, and professional shots of their best work that will maximise their success with gallery submissions and funding proposals etc.
I've developed a neat specialist set-up for photographing flat artwork for artists and printmakers. It enables me to reliably record accurate colour and tonal quality, and catch the textures of paint or fabric. The set-up also allows me to photograph pictures behind glass without any reflections, and to do it all quickly to
make the service as affordable as possible.
I routinely supply four shots of each work: with and without frames (if framed) and both of those at high resolution and screen resolution. The images I provide are suitable for web, catalogue reproduction and for prints up to 30" x 20". I can also provide larger files for huge images if you let me know that's what you want.
'The Old Pier, Union Hall'
In 2013 I photographed a wonderful collection of paintings for Paul and Aileen Finucane's book 'The Old Pier, Union Hall'. Paul and Aileen commissioned 25 artists to paint the view from their garden, and the variety of interpretations is very very interesting. The book was published by Red Barn Press, and is being sold to raise money for local charities. It's available
here.
Want to learn to do your own photography?
I specialise in teaching craftworkers and artists how to photograph their work and I've run photography workshops for several arts organisations. I can tutor you, one-to-one, in how to get the best photographs using your existing camera, and simple set-ups with improvised lighting. It costs €350 for a one-day session or €380 for two half-days. Alternatively I can run a one-day workshop for your arts group or network. It costs €700 + travel costs, and may be eligible for grant funding.
