Wedding Photography FAQs
What makes a good wedding photographer?
Not all wedding photographers are created equal and you are making a choice with long-term consequencies! A good wedding photographer will be well prepared, work discretely, add to the enjoyment of your day, get along with your guests and give you the sort of images you'll be thrilled to have. An indifferent photographer may get in the way, dominate the proceedings and give you lack-lustre images. When your lovely wedding day is long over, your photographs should be the things that transport you back to the wonder of it all, and convey that magic to friends and family that couldn't make it, and probably to your children, and theirs…

How much will it cost us?
I keep my pricing simple. I have a fee for the day, which includes quite a lot and you have control over the images. I'm flexible if you want a lot more or less than I'd usually cover. Getting good wedding photographs involves preperation ahead of the wedding day and several days of sorting and editing afterwards. Wedding photographers earn their fees, believe me.

Do we have unrestricted use of the images you give us?
Pretty much — you can make prints, put books together, post them on social media, share them with anybody you want to share them with and make as many copies as you like! You can use my pics for prints up to 10" but I ask that you order larger prints from me since I can ensure you get professional quality images. My images usually print well up to poster size and professional printing makes all the difference to image quality at that size. My agreement with you doesn't, however, give you permission for comercial use of my images — for example, selling to them to stock libraries or advertising agencies. It's not counted out, but I would expect a further fee.

Can we choose images online?
Yes.  You get a proofing gallery on my website, with a password that you can share with family and friends. You and your guests can order prints or you can put together a collection of images for a book or album.

Is our deposit refundable if we cancel?
Usually not. It is effectively a booking fee that secures the wedding date exculsively for you. I don't take on any other work for that date and several additional days, which are reserved to organise and edit your images.

Can we book you for an extra shoot before or after the wedding day?
Most certainly, and it's a really good idea if you can stretch your budget. I've done that with several couples — usually an extra half day — and we've had a lot of fun doing it and beautiful shots. West Cork is full of really fabulous locations and we can create really memorable images, without the wedding day time-pressure and competing demands.

Do you do travel abroad for weddings?
I'd love to — I'm just waiting to be asked! I'm an experienced traveller and I have a smattering of French and Italian. You just pay my travel and accommodation costs. There is no charge for extra days away if flights don't work perfectly, since I can be editing images or exploring the locality.

Are you insured?
Yes, I have cover up to €7m
